being mindful

So to get the kids warmed up, I threw some rubber knives and foam bats and the kids did laps with them. We did shuffling front and back, backwards, and skipping.

I worked with the blue through green-brown belts on the eight point blocking system with natural strikes, and half-mooning. I would call out numbers in order and have the go back and forth, then call even and odds, and for the last thing I did random numbers. Then we went into forms and I had them do forms at different angles to the room. For a game we played snowballs.

Then for the green-brown through blackbelt class we did the same thing with the kids class with rubber knives on the ground. Then we got into a gauntlet and did ju-jutsu techniques with a partner. Then we would rotate partners. For the last part of class we broke off into groups. Me and another blackbelt then worked on combinations and knife techniques.

sideclub footwork

So I helped teach two classes tonight. A blue through green-brown class, and a white through purple belt class.

So anyway, I stood by the door while the kids were running laps to make sure the no one would open the door we have an accident. Then I did the led the warmup. I worked with two bluebelts. I had them do a form various different ways, including avoiding snowballs, frisbees, etc. Then reviewed all the material on their card. For a game they played jump the dragon.

Then for the white through purple belt class, we had them run laps over wavemasters. That didnt' work out so we had them jump over blockers. Also two people would randomly do overhead attacks.

Then we did the stretching. Jim D. then led the kids in a serious of punches and kicks. The helpers got out shields and were moving targets for the kids. I put down so cones to help the kids get deeper horse stances.

I worked with one yellow belt on a tiger kempo punch self-defense technique, and a sideclub. What I did with the sideclub is put a bat down, for her feet to follow. It seemed to help.

For the last thing the kids played snowballs. Then the kids dodged as the helpers threw them. Last thing the it was the kids versus the helpers.

kempo heats

So I bowed the kids line up and bowed them in. As they were mediating had them repeat that they would go to the bathroom before class. Then I setup some stacked mats and had them run eight laps quietly as possible. That was to help them to learn to be more quite before the next class.

So Jim D. ran them trough some cardio stuff, then we broke into groups. I worked with the lower blue belts. First I had them work on one pinion. One thing I had them do is hold pieces of belts while they were doing the form. Then I had each one do a kempo and the rest of the group would do that kempo. Then we went into a circle of fire with kempos. Then I reversed it so the person in the center would attack instead of defend.

Then for the last part of the time one of the blackbelts got done with the person she was working with so she played the attacker. I put up a mat and she was behind the mat. Then she would do various attacks; sideclubs, overheads, knives, kempos, etc.

For the last part of class we played frisbees. The kids played some games amongst themselves. Then it was the blue/green-brown belt class against the green-brown/blackbelts.

So the next class I warmed the class up with the same thing I did before, but this time instead of dots I put rubber and wood knives on the ground. My purpose was to see how many people would step on the knives. Also, I asked a brown belt how many laps it had been.

Then Devin S. had each person do a 15 second stretch. After that we did as many heats as possible. I got 19. Usually I can get atleast ten more of that. Then we did heats of kempos. We did each animal about two turns then the person would rotate out.

Outside obstacle course

So I lead the white through purple belt class. I warmed them up outside, we had them do laps. Did some stretches. Then I had them get their shoes and go outside.

Next the class did some strikes, kempos, and started into one pinion. I was kind of waiting to get the obstacle course setup. It took longer then I thought it would. But I guess maybe I should have been clearer. We four teens helping.

What we had them do is put stair masters over the pipes outside. Then the first heat the kids were too run to me clap my hand and run back. Then the next time they had to hit some square shields with front ball kicks. Then the next time we added front two knuckle punches.

Then it was almost the end of class so we went inside. It was hard for them to understand me how I wanted them to line up. Then the class bowed out.

The next class started and the kids lined up. I was trying to get the course ready. So first the kids were to run across the things and grab a yellow bat and hand it off to the next person in line. So the next person in line would put it back. Then the time heat we did the opposite thing, and I did like we did before with front two knuckle punches and front ball kicks.

Then we broke off into groups. I worked with a green-brown belt with 4 pinion and ten combination. A little more work and she'll have those things. Then we went inside and worked some more. Next we played a game of ultimate freeze tag. We switched out a yellow bat for a fuzzy dice, because their wasn't alot of people in the class.

The Wall part 2

So I helped Jim work on the wall. I marked some spaces for him to put in screws in. We put in more drywall up, but a piece broke. We put up about as much as we could. So Jim's going to order more drywall.

Anyway, I helped with the white through purple belt class. I worked with the purple belts, and an orange belt. I worked with them on strikes, then worked with them on some stances, and other techniques. Then I put some mats, and some wavemasters and come one at a time. Then I would play the attacker so they could do the proper defense.

We played tug of war for a game. The little Ninja's versus the little Dragons. Then we played instructors. So the first time me and Jim let it go. Then the next time I tried to keep it going, but I let the instructors win.

Next class lined up and mediated. Then we had them run a lap one lap jogging, one skipping one lap, shuffling to the inside one lap shuffling to the outside. Then I had the kids do it again but would stop them and do strikes, kicks, pushups, and situps. Then Josephine, and Brittany, did some stretches.

Then we did some kicking drills, front ball kicks, instep kicks, crescent kicks, rising knee, roundhouse knee, etc. The kids were having trouble turning their hip over, so I took two wavemasters, put a stretched a rope in between them. Next we had the kids line up and do heats of roundhouse kicks, hook kicks, crescent kicks, and reverse cresent kicks.

The kids were getting tired, so we split off into groups. Brittany worked with the green belts. Josephine worked with the upper blue belts. Then Jim D. worked with the green-blue belts. I worked with the lower blue belts.

What we worked on with one kata. First I had them do it. Then I had them do it individually. Then I had them yoke the form, but I had them do it with shields, yellow bats, and helmets. So to avoid injury.

Then the kids played frisbees. I was kind of tired from helping with the wall today, so I didn't stay for class.

spiderweb obstacle

So me and Dakota set up an obstacle course for the little white through purple belt class while Jim D. was leading them through some things. First obstacle we had was two wavemasters with a rope connecting them a "spider web". Then a rope the kids were two bunny hop over till they reached a wavemaster. Then some cones they were to run past, then some steps they were to run up, and jump, do a roll, and defend against a overhead club attack. The kids had a little trouble with the overhead club. So I reviewed it several times. Anyway, then the kids were to run on some dots, and black and get some strikes in.

We had the thought of the week. Then we did the obstacle course again while Jim D. checked the kids to see if they were ready for a stripe. Then I changed it to a sideclub instead of an overhead defense. Then we cleared everything away. The kids helped too but I got the big stuff. We played a game, kick the bags.

Next class lined up. We started them running with half the circle then had them do jumping jacks. Then had the run around the whole dojo. We did the thought of the week. Then we broke off into groups. I worked with one green belt on strikes. He needed a couple of them for his next stripe. He also didn't know 18 combination. So I taught him that. I think he probably had it he probably just forgot. Then we played snowballs for a game.

No Game :(

Well, before class started the kids on a game called pulling hands that I learned at the seminar. Then had the kids line up, had them "bow in" and mediate. Then had them run some laps. Personally, I think it's better when not to have any passing since when the kids do pass they seem collide with each other. Then we did some stretches.

We had do the some kicks and punches. After which we did some team based things such as having the kids in two lines facing each other trying to be faster then each other. Jim D. had them go back and forth such as doing bunny hops, and such. I tried to gets some bags out and provide a target for kids to hit. Then we split them into five teams. If the kids didn't listen then they got rewarded. I "rewarded" some of the kids by putting elastic bands around their hands. So that they would have to do the what Jim said with elastic bands.

So then the kids didn't listen so we setup to have a game, and then the kids watched in front position. Well the kids didn't stay in front position. So Jim D. had them do pushups. I tried correcting the kids posture when they were doing pushups and situps.

I went over to the other side to get the kids lined up. I had them mediate till all the kids were lined up, since Jim D. was doing other stuff. Then we went through stretches, then some kicks such as roundhouse, frontball kicks, instep kicks, hook kicks, and cresent kicks. Then we went into one and two pinion.

Then we broke off into groups, Brittany took the green-brown belts, Zach took the blue-green belts, and I took the blue belts. I went into 1 kata. I kind of had a brain fart on it. Jim came back and he watched what I was doing and he teaches it a little different but that's fine. I think I not sure as the person I learned it from knew it that well. I went into one kata, because I had alot of people to work with, and most of the people needed to work on it. Then those that didn't could use the review.

Then we played jump the dragon. I swung the dragon on the first round. Then zach did the Dragon swung it on the second round.

Then we lined up for the green-black belt class. Sara warmed us up by doing some laps, then we did some stretches. Then we did pull hands, and push hands exercises from the seminar. Then we broke off into a groups. I, Sara, and Bill worked on the 22, and 23 combinations. Then I worked on some of my other combinatiosn and some of the black belt ones.

Then for the last few seconds we did a kempo. I didn't understand what they were doing but I followed along as best we could. Then we bowed out.

Ready to send some people to the blackbelt test

So had the kids play the pass the ball. Maybe I need to find another game for them to play before class. Anyway, then I had the kids line up, then I had them go back to what they were doing, and line up again.

For a warmup, had them do some log rolls on a mat, then jump over some stepmasters. Then did some stretches and some pushups, situps, and jumping jacks. Then did some heats, where they would run over and hit a shield with different strikes and kicks. We did that till we did the thought of the week.

After the thought of the week, then I worked with some white belts and purple belts, getting them some more material and checking them for some stripes. Their were some people close to get a stripe but no one got a stripe. It would have been nice to see one person get it.

Then we played kick the bags for a game. One thing is kids have a hard time remembering which side to go on. So we'll have to find a way to fix that.

Next class, lined up had the green-belts hold their arms up in the air because of them was playing with them before class. Then I had them keep jogging till everyone was lined up. Then we broke off into groups, I took the green-brown through blue-green belts. One of brown belts was helping me, check stripes, then took the blue-greens.

I worked with the green and green-brown belts on sideclubs. I had had them do as many as they could before. A green-brown belt needs seven overhead club techniques for that stripe.

Then kids played freeze tag for a game.

Then I had the green through brown belt class bow in and mediate. Then I had them do some laps. One thing I had the people going for their blackbelt do is yoke two forms. I wanted to throw a curve ball at them.

Then Jim came back and we did a bunch of the forms. I broke off and helped one of the brown belts with 3 kata. Then that was the end of class.

Going outside

Got the kids playing Passing the ball before class. Then had them lined up and got them bowed into class. Had them run around for their cardio, then do some pushups, situps and jumping jacks. Then had them half-moon forward and backwards. Next came some basic strikes.

The thought of the week, was me Chelsie and Dakota trying to get the kids to get out of a horse stance. It didn't really work the way I wanted it too. But it was interesting.

Had the purple belts and the orange belt go outside with Chelsie. Me and Dakota, worked with the yellow and white belts with cardio paddles. At first I had them half moon up and do a strike or a kick. But later I had them run up.

Then when everyone was inside again we played Kick the bag. Where you, kick the bag instead of throwing it. We had a couple games of that going.

Next class came in, and I tried having them do a figure eight. But it ended up several times of them just going in a circle. It was had to describe.

Then Jim had them do some kicks and punches and some combinations. He called it out and if they didn't do anything then they would do pushups. Then we had a competition where me and Jim D. would hold bags, and kids would race to see which row could get done first. Then we went outside, and I checked stripes and worked with a few people.

Then green through brown belt class got started, and I had to go to the bathroom. When I came back I tried running, but I had the class finish the laps, then do the lotus palm breathing technique. Then run through some stretches.

Then we did some kicks and punches. I then worked with two people, a green-brown belt, and a newer brown belt. They both needed to review their handstrikes, so the person who hesitated first had too do pushups. Then I worked their kempos with takedowns. We got out the crash mat, and I worked with them on the mat. Finally I worked with them on slapping out and rolling out.

pass the ball

So before class, I had the kids playing kick the pass the ball. I figured it would help develop their legs and coordination. Also keep them out of trouble.

The kids were slow to get lined up, so I had them go back and do it again. Then they were slow to get on their feet again after mediating, so I had them sit down and redo it. We had them run around, then Dakota, and Chelsie stretched them out. I did some of the stretches too, until I put some mats up. Then we did the thought of the week, which was going over the newsletter.

Jim D, then had the kids do some strikes. Then we helpers got the pads out and held the pads for the kids. It gives them something to aim for.

I worked with a group of orange belts on their strikes. Their were yellow belts, so I I called out some strikes, and had them do it. Then I got out a cardio paddle and had them hit the paddle one at a time. Then moved on to the next person.

We then played a game of jump the Dragon. I first spinned the rope, then another person spun the rope for the kids. I jumped in the Dragon, and it was pretty good cardio.

So then the blue-green/brown class got lined up. We put wavemaster tops down and had the kids jump over them. Realistically I next time I would probably use shields or something instead. Then the class did one pinion together.

I worked with checked stripes. I worked with a couple people on their kempos, and worked with one person on strikes and combinations. Then I worked with the green belts going over combinations. One thing is getting the green belts too sink in 15 combination so they could actually put a person on their legs, instead of of them falling off and not being able to do it.

So then we played a game of frisbees. So we setup the pins and the kids played. We are using a variety of different things right now; frisbees, snowballs, dice, etc.

Then the green-brown belt class got line up. Jim wanted them to jump over the mats. So I had them run over the mats then around some cones. Didn't work out as I planned but it was okay. Then I had them step up on the mats and do some strikes. Then press their heels onto the mats. Next I had them use their combinations as warm-ups.

Perhaps, I should have just done some stretching after the running but oh well. So Jim D, led us through stretching along with a few tai chi exercises. Then we did some warmups exercises, such as pushups, situps, and jumping jacks.

We broke off into a group and worked on combinations. I had the group work on 6, 7, 3, 5, and 13. Figuring that working on the basics would be best. We were going to demonstrate them but we ran out of time. Then we line into two rows and did 1 kata, and 3 pinion. We had to redo 1 kata because we weren't doing it together.

Front position ball game

So I gathered the cards for class, and tried to get people to play hacky sack before class time. For one thing it was suggested that I play games with the kids to show that I'm not a mean person, and it helps develop their kicks. Well, it ended up being a game of catch.

Anyway, we got the kids lined up, then had them run some laps. Then kept the class busy while me and Dakoda, put up an obstacle course. Jim wanted something that emphased agility. So I put rope on the floor and had the kids jump over it. Then we had a small savemaster for them to do front two knuckle punches on. Next some cones to shuffle through, and another wavemaster two do back two knuckle punches. After that was some wavemaster tops with cones put at the side for them to get over, then a wavemaster for them to do thrust punches on. The last thing was some stairmaster steps to jump over. I had them run through a few times, then added a having the kids do two front ball kicks on another wavemaster, and two sidethrust kicks, and over head club technique (an x block). The next thing is we had the kids do a kempo punch technique on the wavemasters. I demonstrated the technique for everyone.

We played a game of front position ball. I came up with it basically you have two lines facing each other. One side is in a front position, the other side tries to throw a snowball into the front position of another person. If the kids don't make it then they have to sit down. I thought this game would be a fun way to reinforce the having a good front position.

I got the next class lined up, and bowed in. They were a bit slow getting up. So I had them do it again. We played the name game and they were a bit slow so I had them do it again. Then I set some wavemaster tops and had them jump over them without moving them. They werent' too success full at it, so if they could get one lap without moving them. Then we did some jumping jacks, some situps with some punches, and some pushups where you move to the side. Then Britany, and Zach, warmed the class up.

Jim had the class go through some kicking drills. He had them touch each other's feet. If they missed it was 2 pushups.

Then I worked with the green through green/brown belts. I had one of the kids through a beach ball and had the kids try and hit it. Then I moved on too kempos, having him poke in for the kempos.

For a game the class played jump the Dragon. There were so many kids we had two circles. I kind of ran late. I had the kids pick up a club. Then we combined it too one circle.

Then I ran the warmup for the green for brown adult class. I had a Brown Belt do five laps of his choice, then some jumping jacks, then some situps, and finally some pushups. Then had the class do the lotus palm breathing technique to regain their breath. Then I did some stretching to warm the class up. Then bowed and thanked them for letting me lead them in warmups. I would have stayed but after having missed classes last week, I not as conditioned too the exercise.

Foam Noodle

In the white through purple belt class I worked with two people on one pinion. Then worked with two white belts on some of their second stripe material. Then worked with some other other white belts working on there first stripe.

Then I helped hold a foam noodle, the kids were kicking over, then we had hand blockers so they would compensate. The idea was the rest of the class was to stay in a horse stance. They didn't, so I was supposed to think up a reward. So I had them run over to a line, and run back, do a jumping jack, run to the line and come back, do a situp, run over to the line and back and do a pushup. The kids didn't stay in a horse stance again, so we had them shuffle over the line and do a side blade kick, then shuffle back and do another sideblade kick. This resulted in less game time for jump the dragon.

The next class I worked with the greens through green brown belt class. So I worked with five people. First we started on combinations, then we did moved on to forms then on to kempos. When someone didn't have something I had them do something they already had in a different way.

In the green through blackbelt class Jim had the blackbelts warmed the class up. Bill scramble had us do some laps then some cardio exercises along with some stretches. Then I had the class do some shaolin kicking drills. Then Chelsie did another kicking drill. Then I started the kids off on some intermediate and advanced kicking drills.

Then we did statue of the crane and two kata. So then we split into groups. Our group did two kata. Then we performed our form, then they performed two kata two. So that was the end of class.

pickup game and 3 combination

So we had the kids run a few laps, then did the thought of the week. Then I took some of the kids into the changing room and worked on one pinion. I tried working on two pinion but that didn't work so well. So I took them outside and started working on combinations. Then I demonstrated the 3 combination, and tried having them play the pickup game with it. Well, eventually another helper took some of the kids so I worked with the purple belts. We worked on the knife defense technique.

Then the next class came in. We did some cardio stuff then did thought of the week. Next I worked with two green belts. One had there red stripe, so I worked on 15 combination. Then did some punching drill and showed them the intermediate kicking drill. Then played a game.

Next in the Green-Blackbelt class we did a bunch of kicking a punching drills. Then I worked on combinations. I learned more about 27 combination.

the bending obstacle course

We hadn't done an obstacle course for awhile, so I set it up. I put a bunch of wavemaster's in a line then put some interesting at a 90 degree angle. Then I put some dots down to have them halfmoon. After that I put too stair master tops. Then I put tape for different strikes. However, I didn't realize some of the kids don't read at their age. While this was going on Jim took them through their strikes.

So first time through they did some punches and kicks then did some halfmooning, and ran over the stairmaster tops. I added a hoop that the kids were too throw frisbee into. Well, it was a little far for them.

Then I worked with some of the kids checking stripes. I worked with one person with one pinion. Then it was game time. So when the kids go out I pulled them aside too check them for their material.

Then the next class came up, and they did different strikes on the bags. Then they did twenty situps, jumping jacks, and pushups. Then for a thought of the week I split the class into two teams and had each team try to get them through a web of rope I set up. Then we split off into groups, and I checked kids for stripes.

Next everyone lined up for the class and we did some laps. Then we lined up by the mirrors and went back and forth. Then we got out out the pads and started working the pads.

Some of the things we did is we did two strikes then a kick. Then we stepped to the side. Another thing we did is put them horizontal flip them down to allow for punches.

Next I with one person on forms. I tweaked a little bit on her form then gave her a little more.

sidebladekick to the front

Well, we recognized the kids that were in the belt test. Then had them bow and mediate. Then did some footwork drills with the kids. Chelsie then had the kids do some laps. Then we did thought of the week.

We didn't have alot of helpers so Jim E. checked stripes, while I worked with the class. Since we had two white belts that kind of limted the stuff we could do. What I had the kids do is have a have heats, then me and Chelsie hold cardio paddles. I kept it too the white belt curriculum. Looking back, I could have had the higher belts do their stuff, while the white belts did the same stuff. Or I could place obstacles in there way.

For a last game we played jump the Dragon. As a tie breaker we had the kids pick up a snow ball. Well, I had the highest belt go first, and the whitebelt won.

Then the next class lined up. There were alot of new blue belts. So a couple people helped out. We had them run around, then do the thought of the week. During which time I looked through the cards and looked for people who had stripes, and talked with Britany what we were to do.

Then we broke of into our groups. I worked with someone on getting two new kempo's, so he has enough to get his stripe. Then worked with someone on five pinion. After that we played frisbee's. I kicked some of the frisbee's back in.

Then next class lined up. I lead the class out with laps. Jim E. said I should confuse the other people so we did laps in figure eights. First I did jogging then I did stealth mode. Then I did leopard walking.

Then we made two lines and faced each other. Jim E. called out a technique then he would either ki or say go. If we were the last person done we had to do two pushups. But if we went when we said go, the whole team had to do three pushups. We did various things including a sideblade kick to the front. Which I had never done before.

Then our team went off and did a form practiced doing a form then we presented the form. Then we rearranged our teams then did another form, and presented that one. Then we split off into smaller groups, and worked on combinations.

half of a form

For a warmup, we had the kids run around, and run on top of mats and do some kicks on wavemasters. Then we did thought of the week. Next I worked with the purple belts on one pinion. They were having trouble with the footwork so I had them do some footwork exercises. Then the kids did the form for the rest of the class. Then for a game they played jump the dragon. I put out wavemaster tops to keep the kids inside.

The next class I moved some wavemasters that they would have to do different strikes on and some mats stacked over that they would have to run over, in addition they had to dodge the dragon. Then we did the thought of the week, and split up. Someone else checked the kids for stripes. What I had the kids do a ring of fire with side club techniques till they ran out of them. Then they worked on forms. I had them put a wavemaster top underneath them to help encourage them to sink down. Then we played a game of jump the dragon.

Then for next class I lead the class in a warm up, then did some stretching. Then we did a circle of fire. Then each of the four of us took three of the kids, and worked on a overhead. Then did ring of fire again and worked on sideclubs. Then each of the adults worked with the kids again on a sideclub. Then we did combinations, then some strikes. Then did some forms with half with form then another half of a form.

more slap outs

So we had the kids line up, bow in and mediate. Then we had them run around on top of mats, and we had noodles that they had to get past. We were trying to have them be quiet this time.

Then we did thought of the week. Next we did a teamworking course, get their team to a certain point. But they had to use stepmaster, they had already used. It kind of went with the thought of the week.

Then we broke off into groups. I worked with the purple belts on two pinion. Then we worked on some strikes. Then I had them try and hit the wavemaster without getting hit by the foam noodles. Next I had the kids do combinations on top of a folded up mat. For a game we played freeze tag.

The next class lined up, and I setup the mats again so they could run over the mats. Then the other assistants tried did the noodles. Then we did some strikes, and I went around with a shield.

We did the thought of the week, and I went throug the cards to see who did their stripes. Next we worked on slap outs, Jim E. checked some people for stripes. We got out the mats and lined them up horizontally in the studio. Then we had two lines. The front row would go first, then the second row would go. We did slapouts front and back, and then did front and back rolls. Then we did halfmooning with some foam feet. The last thing is we played a game of freeze tag.

Then in the adult class we played a game of freeze tag. I managed to avoid the bat a few times by rolling around. But they figured out what I would do.

Then we did a circle of fire with overheads. Then took one overhead and tried to make it the best we could make it. Then we demonstrated it. Then we did another circle of fire this time with sideclubs, and then took another sideclub did the same thing. One thing Jim E. wants us to do is use more hip power.

bubble wrap

So while I setup the obstacle course the helpers had the kids run around and stretch out. Basically, the kids were to go over some stacked mats, do a roll, and do an overhead defense, then do some punches on the wavemasters, then I setup some stairmasters they were to walk across. I had the kids not make a sound while they were doing it. If they did they were to do pushups.

Then I worked with the white and yellow belts on punches and overheads. I had them line up, then one person would come over and I would do an overhead attack on them. Then they went to the back of the line.

The last thing was game time in which we played snowballs. We moved some equipment from the obstacle course off to the side. Then we setup the snowballs.

We lined the class up, bow in, and mediate for a few moments. Then we had them run around in some laps waving through the wavemasters that were still setup. Then the class started jogging in place and people asked some questions, then the students were to recall those the answers to those questions.

I helped setup some bubble wrap. It's kind of the same thing as rice paper. The idea is to make as few sounds as possible as you walk over it. Well we setup two and had a race, counting the fewest possible. The kids were to run over the bubble wrap, then go over to some wavemasters at the far end of the studio, then run back to there lines. We did this several times then broke off into groups.

Zack worked ran the group through forms, while I setup the mats and setup the ring of fire. There were several people who needed the ring of fire, and we worked combinations in it. Then Jim and Zack worked with a few people on combinations.

Then for the last game we played kick the bags. One of the kids was doing a good job of dodging them, however there were three other people on the other team. So we played several games of this.

Random Acts of Kindness

So we got the kids lined up. Then we had them ran around. Then we stretched them out. I checked stripes and tried figuring out who was up for stripes. Then we did the the thought of the week, and talked about the random acts of kindness program. Then we played a game of freeze tag.

Then the next class lined up and we bowed in. We had them run around, and then we stretched them out. While this was going on I checked someone for a stripe. Then we did the thought of the week, and talked about the random acts of kindness. Then we played frisbees for a game.

Then the green through brown belt class we did laps in a figure eight. Then we did some stretches. Then we did the thought of the week and random acts of kindess. Then then we worked on some forms, and worked on some kempo with partners.

As in a movie

I had the kids bowed in and mediating. Then we had the kids run some laps, and stop at certain times to do things such as some strikes or combinations. Then we did some stretches. Next we did a thing where the kids would have to run over and kick a snow ball on top of the cone. I put a wavemaster top over the cone to challenge the kids a little bit. We did that several times then switched to instep kicks. One reason I did that is that it introduced the front ball kicks, and instep kicks for the white belts, and was hoping one of the kids would want to jump in and participate.

We had the kids line up. I kind of helped get the cards straightened out as far as attendance. Then I worked with some of the kids on there front two knuckle, back two knuckle, and thrust punches.

Then we played a game of freeze tag but the kids couldn't go out of the red of the mats. I tagged kids who went off the red and then they were frozen. Well, the kids didn't go off the mats anymore.

So the next class came in, and got lined up, and we recognized the people who got promoted from the belt test. Then we had them mediate. Then run laps. Next we did some strikes, and held out some striking film for the kids to hit.

Then we broke off into groups. We had the kids go through there forms. Then did a ring of fire with kempos. One person needed to work on his kempo's. Another needed rings of fire. So that's why we did that. We went clockwise for awhile, then I missed someone so we switched it up. Then I worked with someone to get him more kempo's.

Then for a game we played frisbee's. We put down pins, and if one side knocked them over they got all there team members back in. We also put out a dice that was just like another frisbee.

Then brown belt class came along. I kind of had to fix my pants so they didn't come lose and go to the bathroom. I thought my pants were tight enough but, when I got to class I realized they were kind of lose.

So we did some warmups. Then setup up a octogon. Our first thing to do was to do one pinion, in with out changing the form. So we got pushups since no one did it in the same spot as we started from. Then some other people tried it and we eventually got it. Then we did something where two people would run to the center and one would be the attacker and one would be the defender. We did that for a little while. Jim said we were to act as if there was a movie director looking for people were around.

Then we broke off into groups, my group worked on 4 kata. I went over some parts with the two brown belts I was working with and made some suggestions. I had them do it with bags, to get more power in their kicks. Then we lined back up and were dismissed.
